Service and Assistance Dogs

Service and Assistance Dogs

Service and Assistance dogs are an integral part of  our society today.

We offer customised services for those needing help.

We work with a lot of clients that are aiming at training their own service and or assistance dog, this may include anything and everything from selecting the right puppy to problem solving with an existing dog and everything in between.

Service and Assistance Dogs are an extremely valuable asset to their people and can provide, comfort, support, help, companionship and relief for those who need it.

This includes Therapy dogs for Counsellors, Psychotherapists, Psychologists and any one that would benefit from a dog in their business to comfort people.

Our business model is designed to help people with dogs, so we customise the training sessions to suit your needs. No one size fits all in our system, no two clients or dogs are alike and we will structure our work into what you need.

We can help with: –

  • * Puppy selection, supply and testing.
  • * Temperament testing of your existing dog or a dog that you are interested in.
  • * Targeted socialisation programs for dogs that will be assistance or service dogs.
  • * Overcoming training or behavioural problems with your dog.
  • * Teaching you and your dog essential Life Skills, the foundation of all good assistance dogs.
  • * Task training and design.
  • * Management and care of the Assistance / Service dog in your life.

  • In House Behaviour

Most of us have our dogs in ours homes with us these days, but doesn’t need to mean hair and chewed belongings everywhere.

Learn how to train your perfect house dog.

    Socialisation

This would be one of the most IMPORTANT and least UNDERSTOOD facets of raising a well adjusted dog there are.

Most people that come for to get help with a Behaviour Problem think they knew what to do when the dog was a pup.

    Don’t guess…

    Tasks and duties

Assistance and Service dogs may need to help people by bringing medication, items such as phones, keys etc or open and close doors perhaps.

We can help you learn how to teach your dog these things, empowering you to be able to create the dog of your dreams.

    Scent Detection

Dogs can detect odours with incredible accuracy, this includes changes in the human body such as high and low blood sugar levels etc. THose with Diabetes can have their dog alert them when they are heading outside of their normal range.

  • Behaviour around other dogs

Most people successfully get their dogs to either go nuts when it sees another dogs because : –

    1. It wants to play with them or 2. It is aggressive toward them.

Learn how to strike a balance.

  • Early Intervention

Some pups will have problems, that is a given. Some haven’t got the genetics, some have received next to no education with the breeder, some just have issues.

The earlier these are discovered the least impact they will have on an adult dog.

    Life Skills

Often these are not the focus of those who want an Assistance or Service dog, but without Life Skills such as loose leash walking, place training, recalls etc the dog may not be able to function in area’s where there are other dogs or people etc.

This is a very important set of steps to get right if your dog is to be able to work anywhere.
